She is smiling!!!!!!

With our guide Jack at the Supermarket

She just started smiling!!!! I cannot believe it, she has been so serious this whole time and without any emotions. She whimpered a little bit last night, but that is about it. I have never been happier to see someone smile, ever! Our daughter smiled at us!!!! I hope there will be many more smiles to come. I was starting to feel like we were never going to get through to her and then it just happened. She started smiling and giggling and she even through a tantrum. I am so excited that we are finally seeing Leah or YingYing (her Chinese nick name). I cannot miss this time with her so I will sign off for now. I will post some pictures before I go. Thank you God!!!

PS: Thanks to all of you for following and leaving messages. Reading them makes us feel so loved and closer to home. I hope you will enjoy the pictures. Hope to capture more smiles tomorrow.

  2. Thank you God! If possible Leah is even more beautiful when she smiles. It is so good that she is showing emotion. Wonderful news. How fun getting to know your daughter. You are so generous to share your journey with us. Thank you. Of course how could she not smile with such an awesome mom, dad and big brother :)

  3. What a beautiful smile! And it's contagious. We have the whole family gathered around the computer right now, and everyone is laughing and smiling. I'm sure that you will never forget this moment. So thrilling to share this with you!

Karsten and Sophia will join us soon . . .

  4. It is so great to be able to share this trip/journey/adventure with you! It is fantastic news that she is smiling and even throwing a tantrum. Sounds like she is getting used to you and acting "normal" if that is possible. Great news and as always, the pictures are worth a thousand words :)

  8. While you are sleeping, I'm enjoying lunch with Karsten, Sophia and Jacob. Watching the three of them lined up at the kitchen island, I've thought about how well Leah will fit in. Isn't she close to Jacob's age? They are chattering away right now, laughing at the moustache Karsten is making out of his apple slice! They've played together all morning . . . Legos, Little People, and a rockin' band of drums, guitar, and harmonica. Karsten split off for a little bit to try his hand at the Wii, but he was fast disappointed in my lack of knowledge. Finally, he brought me the controls and said, "I'll just wait for Andrew to come home." Anyway, what fun Karsten and Sophia will have with Leah! And they can't wait to see Mamma and Pappa and Kai! I asked Karsten if Kai will be Ge-Ge instead of Kai-Kai, and he just cracked up. Hugs to all, Becky and Co.

  9. P.S. Leah will be thrilled, because Sophia has just introduced Karsten to Polly Pockets! And, I must say, both Karsten and Jacob seem to be having lots of fun . . . now, the Pollies, on the other hand, I am not so sure about. ; )

  10. That's wonderful, you guys! That pic at the top is the best! Here I am all choked up looking at these shots. Thanks for turning me into a complete basket case (let the reader understand) this morning.

BTW, I think I made it look in one of my posts on our blog that Anne Marie was responsible for knocking that display down in the store. Didn't mean to do that.
